Environment and climate policy

In the Environment and Climate Department, we regularly organise events, lectures and workshops on a wide range of sustainability topics. Our goal is to gather, share and promote interdisciplinary exchange within the ÖH and at the University of Klagenfurt. In this way, we want to create an awareness of sustainability so that we can all contribute together to a more sustainable university and a more sustainable lifestyle.

With the rapidly advancing climate crisis, the importance of understanding and informing about the change is becoming more relevant than ever. And we want to make sure of that! We are committed to ensuring that you have access to information that will enable you to make your everyday life more climate-friendly at university and at home.

In our “clothing exchange” you can either drop off your clothes that you no longer need, refill your wardrobe, or do both at the same time. You can also have your clothes adjusted or repaired. And we offer you the opportunity to make your own care products and learn more about the environmental impact of everyday things for us.

In the ÖH University Garden (behind lecture hall A) we promote biodiversity, admire biodiversity and give something back to our planet. The garden offers space to relax or can be used for workshops in nature. And with the “plant exchange” and the “seed exchange” you can even take part of the garden home with you.

Our “Essen Für Alle” project offers you the opportunity to enjoy delicious vegan dishes at a reasonable price. Every Tuesday we spoil you with delicious creations. In addition, we always provide you with the recipes so you can cook them at home. Do you have a recipe you really want to implement? Great! We will help you cook your favorite recipe for other students.
