Department for

Social policy, senior citizens, working students, students with children and accessibility

Promoting and strengthening social justice.

The Department for Social Policy, Senior Citizens, Working Students, Students with Children and Accessibility is your central point of contact for all social law matters in the following areas:

  • Funding your studies: We advise you on various financial support options during your studies (including scholarships, family and housing allowance). In addition, we help you in emergency situations with the emergency and hardship funds. Further information can be found on the website of the scholarship office and under Scholarships and Grants of the University of Klagenfurt.
  • Studying with a child: We will inform you about childcare options, financial support and options for extending your study period. In addition, you can use the family room as a play and learning space for you and your little one(s). Further information is also available under Family Service and Children’s Group.
  • Studying with disabilities: In order to make your studies as accessible as possible, we will inform you about support options and refer you to special counselling centres. Further information can also be found under Services for people with disabilities and at the BMKZ.
  • Studying in old age: For older students we offer our own counselling centre and information on special offers such as computer courses, the Senior Café and the Senior Studies Liberale.
  • Studying and working: We advise you about the limits of trust in receiving a subsidy, insurance options, special scholarships and grants as well as the possibility of a educational leave. You can also find out more under Studying and Working.

In addition to our advisory activities, we are active in the committee for the allocation of the special hardship fund of the ÖH at the University of Klagenfurt/Celovec and are committed to expanding the range of social fund beneficiaries. We take a position on draft laws concerning the social situation of students and work closely with the scholarship office. We initiate and coordinate social policy projects that are accessible to all students of the University of Klagenfurt, regardless of their life situation.
