Bachelor programme

Academic degree: Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Are you interested in the English language and culture? In the Bachelor’s degree programme in Worlds of English, which you can also complete in the teaching-training programme, you will acquire excellent English skills (level C2) and learn to write texts in different genres in English. You will also deepen your knowledge of Anglophone cultures and sharpen your intercultural skills. In this way, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the English language, literature and regional studies.

The teaching takes place in direct exchange with internationally renowned teachers. A semester abroad or internship abroad in English-speaking countries gives you the chance to hone your language skills and make valuable contacts for the future. As a graduate, you must have sound language and country knowledge as well as a high degree of independence and self-responsibility, which makes you useful in many professional fields: in the cultural sector, in publishers, archives and libraries as well as in the field of translation.

As a formal prerequisite for admission to the study, Latinum is required. The proof can be provided with the matriculation examination certificate or can be demonstrated during the first part of the programme with the Latin course offered at the University of Klagenfurt.

Master programme

Academic degree: Master of Arts (MA)

In the Master’s programme in English and American Studies/ Worlds of English, you will expand and deepen your knowledge in the fields of linguistics, literary and cultural studies. You have the cultural, methodological and professional knowledge to assume responsible positions in business, politics, art and culture at an international level. The special thing about the Master’s programme in English and American Studies at the University of Klagenfurt: You enjoy the personal exchange with teachers and fellow students in small working groups and are thus well supported during your studies.
