Informations about the programme
Bachelor Programme
Are you passionate about the Romance and Slavic languages and cultures? In the Bachelor’s programme in Romance Studies and the Bachelor’s programme in Slavic Studies, you will acquire practical and theoretical skills in a Romance/Slavic language as well as basic knowledge in a second Romance/Slavic language. You will attend courses that offer general and special language training as well as basic knowledge of regional studies and Romanesque/Slavic linguistics, literature and cultural studies. You will acquire intercultural skills and the ability to think independently and critically.
A semester abroad or internship abroad gives you the chance to hone your language skills and make valuable contacts for the future. As a graduate, you have sound language and country knowledge that opens many professional doors for you. This allows you to gain a professional foothold in the cultural sector, in archives and libraries as well as in the field of translation.
As a formal prerequisite for admission to the study, Latinum is required. The proof can be provided with the matriculation examination certificate or can be demonstrated during the first part of the study as part of the Latin course offered at the University. Basic language skills are required for French and Italian. To acquire basic language skills, you can take the general language courses offered by the university.
Master Programme
In the Master’s programme in Romance Studies and the Master’s programme in Cross-Border Studies, you will deepen your linguistic skills in your chosen Romance/Slavic languages. You will develop an expanded and differentiated understanding of oral and written forms of expression. Upon graduation, you will have specific language skills that enable you to mediate between cultural spaces – whether in business, politics, art or education.
In addition to bachelor’s and master’s studies, you can also study the Romance languages and Slovenian as part of the Lehramt programme.
