Bachelor Programme and Master programme
Academic Degree: Master of Education (MEd)
As a teacher, do you want to help shape the education of future generations? The teacher-training programme offers you a modern, high-quality, profession- and science-oriented education that will prepare you for professional life. With the successful completion of this degree program, you acquire the right to teach students from the 5th grade to the Matura at New Middle School (NMS) as well as at secondary schools and vocational schools (BMHS).
In order to register for a bachelor’s degree program, you must pass a positive admission procedure. This takes place once a year, in the summer. In addition, some subjects require proof of Latin.
The Bachelor’s degree in Teacher Education entitles you – in a fixed-term employment relationship – to teach. For permanent employment, it is also necessary to complete a further four-semester Master’s programme. In addition, after the Bachelor’s degree, a one-year induction phase is planned as a part-time introduction to the school.
Teacher studies are on principle mandatory in combination. You can choose between two options: either a classic study with two subjects or an innovative model with one subject and a specialisation. The subjects can be combined as desired. At the University of Klagenfurt you can choose the following subjects: movement and sport, German, English, ethics, French, history, social studies and political education, geography and economics, computer science, Italian, mathematics, Slovenian, Spanish.
The contents of the study are specialized science, specialized didactics, educational foundations, pedagogical-practical training and core elements of the pedagogical professions as a cross-cutting topic.
Further important information about the Bachelor’s degree program and Master’s degree program can be found directly on the website of the University of Klagenfurt.
